SURPRISE BLOG POST! I am uploading a blog post today because I will be away on Sunday (my usual posting day) and the flat my family and I are staying in has no wifi! No! Do not fear, there are cafes here... with... wifi (it doesn't really work, does it). Just in case I don't get a chance to upload one on Sunday, here is one a little bit earlier. However, if I am able to post one on Sunday, see you on Sunday!

Since the beginning of the Summer Holidays, exciting things have happened but none as exciting as this... MY FIRST PURCHASE FROM BRANDY MELVILLE! You have no idea how long I've been crushing on their clothes. I found out about the shop first through Instagram and I quickly fell in love with the hang of their dresses, the fit of their crop tops and the casual style of all their pieces. The items of clothing have tumblr written all over them and being the tumblr addict I am (plug opportunity - you can follow me on bentb4ckwards) I felt like I had died and gone to shopping heaven. The best part is that their stuff is cheaper than Topshop! 

I went in looking for the opposite of what I had come out with. I was original set on buying the off-white pink Jada dress because it looked so effortless and beachy (perfect for the Summer) but most of their clothing is only sold in one size and being the shortie I am, I did not fit the criteria for this particular dress as it scooped my BOOBIES (oh, I said it all right) rather than delicately resting upon them and the same happened with my gluteus maximus so it wasn't the fit for me. Plus, it was basically transparent. Disappointed with not having found a white dress, my mum scouted every nook and cranny of the store and came back with 3 dresses one of which is the little black one you see above. 

It hangs beautifully on my body and cuts off a bit further than half my thigh. It has a weighty drop but is really light and airy. The straps are adjustable so you can make it as high or as low/as short or as long as you wish. WARNING: If you jump, it shows your pants. I'm SUPER happy with the dress and I am taking it with me on holiday.

Quick point before I leave: as I already mentioned in the first paragraph, I am going away very soon and there is a risk that I may not have access to wifi the week after the next. 

MOVIE VS BOOK // THE FAULT IN OUR STARS

Raise your hand if you agree with the following statement: John Green is at the same time, the cruelest and most brilliant author the world has ever seen. *all raise 3 finger* I'm sorry! I merged 2 fandoms into one blog post! It shall not happen again, I promise... *crosses fingers behind back* I'm getting away from the point of this blog post! As you can already tell, I am going to be comparing the book and the movie of the most tragic yet hilarious love story you will ever come across. If you haven't read 'The Fault In Our Stars', LEAVE. Right, now where was I?

The Fault In Our Stars is the story of a blossoming relationship between a girl with terminal lung cancer and a boy who has one leg. Their names are Hazel-Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters. It is a book where anyone watching you read it will think you're having a facial spasm (if those even exist) because you will laugh and cry all at the same time. I was so excited about the movie coming out! I know lots of people are always scared when a really good book get turns into a movie but I always get super enthusiastic about it and I often sit on my laptop looking through pictures of different actors and actresses who could play the main characters while pretending to be the casting director. TMI! I'm sure that no one was disappointed with the outcome as the casting was on point (Ansel Elgort's gooffy smile, *melts*), the ambience of the set and scenery was tailored to perfection and the chemistry between each of the characters was just, ugh. When I first walked out of the cinema I thought 'I don't know whether I prefer the book or movie' but looking back, I preferred the book. Let me explain... 

The first reason (I've only got 2) is that the book made me cry more. This is quite strange because usually a film has the ability to make someone feel more emotion because it looks and feels more real as you can actually see it. I don't know what it is about John Green's writing, it just - I think it's magic. My final reason is because they skipped out my favourite part of the book. It is the part where a little girl comes up to Hazel and asks her what the tubes do and Hazel explains it and lets the little girl try them on. I think it is the sweetest thing and I even saw the preview of that scene where John Green HIMSELF plays the parent but I guess it got cut out. 

So I hope you enjoyed this blog post. It is a little different to the norm but I think it'd be fun to continue doing these 'MOVIE VS BOOK' series. I won't do it often but hopefully, you'll like it none the less. Thanks for reading! 

CHANGING MY GAME

I have just changed my nail colour from a matte lilac to this vibrant pastel blue. I don't know whether that actually makes sense since pastels are supposed to be soft but - but... Just look at the pictures! I only have this colour in the Gelly Hi-Shine range but I really like it. It doesn't last longer than most, the longest it's lasted without chipping is 3 days, but 2 coats and it's opaque and it means it when it says 'hi-shine'. It's a really beautiful colour for Summer and I also currently have it on my toes... but I don't know how long that will last...

EXCUSE THE DIRTY MAKEUP BRUSHES

'I need you darlin', come on set the tone...' Oh hey there! Excuse my awkward introduction, I've just been obsessing over Ed Sheeran's new album, 'Multiply'. But I'm not here to talk about my music preferences (I have done in the past, though) but rather to review the ECOtools starter set. 

PLEASE IGNORE THE FACT THAT THEY ARE DIRTY! These are the only brushes I use, save one or two, because I am still new to world of makeup, so I am only just figuring out my bearing. My mum got this set for me last Christmas since I had been badgering her for some brushes so I could actually use some of my makeup products! It comes with a really useful makeup pouch that you could use to store your products or, for the time being, I just keep my makeup brushes in it. It's transparent in the front which makes it really easy to get the right brush out. It consists of 5 brushes.

1. Lash & Brow - I don't use this to comb my eyelashes. I know some people do do that but I just find it an odd concept. Also, my eyes are quite sensitive so I don't want to risk poking my eyeball out with those comb teeth! However, on the other side, there is a brow brush which I use on a daily basis to keep my brows looking groomed rather than having hairs going in different directions.

2. Concealer - I use this with my stick concealer because it is hard to blend it in and I think it does a great job. It's not to harsh or rigid to use under the eyes either which is really useful.

3. Eyeliner - You could also use this to fill in your eyebrows but I personally don't do that so I can't tell you whether it does that well. I've only ever used it a few times with eyeshadow to offer subtle definition along the lash line. I found it was good for a slightly messier eyeliner look but the hairs are too soft and far apart to give a really precise line.

4. Blush - This is a great multi-tasking brush. I only ever use it for blush or powder but I feel it would also be good at applying powder highlighter or bronzer. It's not very dense which I prefer as it doesn't apply a ton of product at once which allows you to build it up.

5. Eyeshadow - This is my least favourite because I find it too wide for my eyelid. I've only used it once and the brush was too rigid and didn't pick up the eyeshadow very well.

BATH EXPLOSION

2 weeks ago it was Father's Day and today was MY Father's Day! Happy Birthday Daddy! Anyway, personal events aside, I am doing a review today of the Bomb Cosmetics bath bombs. I never hear anything about them on blogs or YouTube videos so time to change that! I came back from my Duke of Edinburgh Award Expedition on Friday (if you don't know what that is, I will be doing a post on it in a couple of months so watch this space) and I had been walking so much and I was so exhausted that I couldn't help myself and I had my own version of a pamper evening and that is what inspired me to write this post for you today! 

I've only ever used the Bomb Cosmetics bath bombs because I have eczema so I had never used a bath bomb until December 2013 which was so recently so I haven't had a chance to play the field. These bath bombs are really nice because they are filled with goodies for your skin. There are so many oils/dry oils packed into this tiny ball that gives your bath water a milky appearance. I've used 3 and they all contain something unique. The ones I've tried have included fake petals, lavender petals and shimmer. WARNING: You do have to rinse your bath afterwards with clean water to stop it leaving any residue in your bath tub. My body feels so nourished after using these so I don't use body lotion/butter. They all smell amazing but I haven't noticed a difference in scent. All in all, I think these are really lovely (and non-expensive) bath bombs just be weary of the lack in variety.

SUMMER MAKEUP TIPS

It is now officially Summer but that doesn't mean you can't wear makeup, it just means you've got to tread carefully with what products you use and how you apply them. So let's get started.

Tip number 1: Wear less! Your skin benefits from the suns rays so let it breathe. Don't overload your face with a heavy foundations. Opt for something lighter like a tinted moisturiser or, if you're feeling comfortable, nothing!

Tip number 2: If you're going to wear makeup, wear as much waterproof makeup as possible. If you're going to wear mascara, wear a waterproof version. If you're going to wear blusher, wear cream blusher... That leads me onto my next tip.

Tip number 3: Don't overload on the blush. You're already going to get rosier from the sun and the heat so if you use it too much, you'll look like someone's slapped you across the  cheek... twice. 

Tip number 4: Same concept as the blush tip, don't overload on the highlighter either. You're going to sweat, whether you like it or not and you're going to get a little bit of a glow from it. If you use too much highlighter, you'll look like a disco ball!

Tip number 5: Wear a lip product that contains SPF or wear a lip balm that contains it underneath the lip product you're planning to wear. Believe it or not, you can get sunburnt on your lips and it has never happened to me but I can't imagine it would be a very pleasant experience.
